Listening

.            1.1 Listening Process
Introduction :-

As children we first of all learn to listen, then to speak, then to read and, finally, to write. In our daily life we spend, on average, 45% of the time listening, 30% speaking, 15% reading and only 10% writing.
Second-language teaching focuses on writing and reading, while we are rarely taught how to listen properly?

Definition :-
1.Listening skill is the ability to pay close attention to what someone is saying and understanding their message.

2. Listening means paying attention to what someone is saying, understanding their words, and thinking about what they mean.

listening process :-
1. Receiving: This is the initial stage where you hear the information through your ears.

2. Understanding: After receiving the information, your brain processes it to comprehend the meaning.

3. Remembering: The information is stored in your short-term memory, and if deemed important, it may transfer to long-term memory.

4. Evaluating: During this stage, you analyze and interpret the information, considering its relevance āŠļુāŠļંāŠ—āŠĪāŠĪા and significance āŠŪāŠđāŠĪ્āŠĩ.

5. Responding: You provide feedback or react to the information you have received.
Effective listening requires focus attention, and active engagement in each of these stages. By actively participating in the process, you can enhance your understanding and retention āŠ…āŠĩāŠ°ોāŠ§ of the information being conveyed.

Listening attentively is especially important when we are working in a second language. We really need to be confident that we have heard and understood correctly. In our first language we often take this for granted.
